Build your craft intensively with an exciting upcoming workshop series!
Two Week Summer Acting Intensive at The Studio on the Drive
With Veteran Coach INGRID TORRANCE and Industry Guests
Casting Director CANDICE ELZINGA
Agent DOROTHY SZYMANSKA
Voice and Improv coach ALAN MARRIOT
July 5 – 16th Monday – Friday 10am – 4pm
$750 plus GST. Call 604 872 0075 to register.
Maximum 12 spots.
This two week intensive will be a condensed version of what is often
covered in full time or conservatory programs. Covering much more
ground than a weekly Scene Study Class, Studio on the Drive teacher
Ingrid Torrance will spend the first week exploring partnered scene
work with the actors. She’ll be looking at the foundations of
scene analysis, character building, listening and reacting in the
moment, working with a director and the mechanics of acting for the
camera (close up, master shot, etc).
In the second week the audition process will be covered, including
Film/TV and Commercial Auditions, slating, taking re-direction, knowing
your typecast, etc. The week will also include a visit from
Candice Elzinga, a veteran Casting Director currently casting the TV
Series “Psych” as well as numerous Movies of the Week.
Voice work is an often overlooked but crucial part of training and
Studio teacher Alan Marriot will work with the actors on voice,
movement and improvisation during one of the workshop days. The
ability to create character through voice and the skill to improvise
fearlessly are tremendous assets for working actors or newer actors
looking to make a breakthrough.
Lastly, agent Dorothy Szymanska from Collingwood Management will do a
lecture and Q and A session with the actors, talking about the
relationship between the actor and the agent. This will be an
invaluable seminar for both represented and unrepresented actors.
Dorothy has a background as a former Casting Director for many years
and is one of the most knowledgeable and supportive people we currently
have working in the industry.
Whether you’re a young actor starting in the business or a seasoned pro
looking to refine your craft, this intensive will be a great
workout! Call the studio at 604 872 0075 for more details.
