Acting Workout with Aaron Craven
Monday nights @ 6:30 p.m.
Saturdays @11am
This class is a mixture of Scene Study and On-Camera Audition
technique. Actors are worked with specifically according to their needs
and their career progression. This class does not stick to a format,
but rather touches on elements of prepared scene work as well as the
art of auditioning. Actors are given the opportunity to perform
material from both Film/T.V and Stage, with the emphasis on tailoring
the work for the camera. Aaron encourages actors to empower themselves
and “own” spirited choices in their work. Improv warm ups are also done
every class, making the class a workout for serious actors only.

A
graduate of the University of British Columbia, Aaron has worked on both sides of the border, with Film/TV credits including
Fairly Legal, Fringe, iCarly, Stargate Atlantis, Life Unexpected, Kyle XY, The
L Word, The Unit, Smallville, Tru Calling, The Dead Zone,
Supernatural and The Day the Earth Stood Still. Stage credits include
Gaslight at the Hudson Theatre (Los Angeles) as well as the Vancouver premieres of Neil Labute's
Fat Pig and Michael Weller's
Fifty Words.
He has also directed critically acclaimed productions of
Glengarry GlenRoss and
Closer.
"Coachings with Aaron are always a great workout that empower me to
carry a lot of confidence into the audition room. He helps to
define and refine strong choices that are right for the character, the
piece as a whole and me as an individual...I highly recommend the
experience." - Allison Hossack ( Series Regular on "Hope Island", 'Falcon Beach, "Kingdom Hospital" )
"Is it a
coincidence that since starting studying with Aaron, I’ve booked three TV roles in the past two months, and my
first recurring one? I think not. Apart from the value of ‘working out’, Aaron’s
classes provide an avenue in which to explore possibilities. His check-in time is very valuable, followed
by a variety of improvisational warm-ups to get you in the moment. Aaron is a master at pin pointing what each
individual in the class needs to work on without getting too personal. I highly recommend Aaron as a teacher and
mentor to anyone wishing to develop their acting craft." - Valerie McNicol ("Supernatural", Recurring role - "The Killing")
"Aaron understands the process an actor needs in rehearsals and
bringing out a full performance from a piece of text. He knows
how to work out the mental moves. Time well spent."
-Veena Sood ("Battlestar Galactica", "Touch of Pink", "The Big Year" )
"It was amazing to experience the process you take them through in
order to achieve the results that make for the best possible audition
on the first take. The feedback I've gotten has all been positive and a
number of clients look forward to working with you again in the
future”. (
